Spare Tire Swing Gate

I was in a junkyard today that had a lot of BroncoII's. Many of them had a swing gate that attaches to the truck about half way up the rear hatch. My question is can I take one of those off of the BII and put it on my 1st Gen. Ex? I don't know if the body is strong enough to hold a tire and a gate but if anyone has any suggestions I would appreciate it.

Yeah you can bolt it up, but im no expert because i dont have one... yet. Like Pugh said there is tons of talk about that kind of thing all over the forum.
