Simple question: 1998 5.0 AWD Mountaineer with 81k babied miles. I am hearing a puffing sound coming from the engine under load. Sounds like an exhaust leak. Want to first check for a loose spark plug. Is there a trick to pulling the boots? Or just pull? Secondly, if the plugs are tight, where is the most logical places to look next. Pretty sure the sound comes from drivers side, so I don't think its the EGR tube on the passenger side. Runs great otherwise.
