speedometer ,odometer,tachometer not working

My speedometer,odometer and tach. Stop functioning the other day.
Cel came on code was for a vss malfuncition. Replaced the sensor and nothing
Happend. I also checked fuses and all seem ok.. day prior I had a after market radio
Installed and and next morning is when I noticed the meters stopped working.I did buy wiring harness so no wires needed to be cut. But ther was one a gray and blk strip wire.
Seperate from the rest that plugged into stock radio the was assumed a ground wire
And was connected to ground wire. I'm starting to think its not ground...anyone one know
What that wire is or what I should do...thanks

Just as I expected might be what was causing my meters to not function and cel to come on.
Was my problem I. Let a fam. Member install my stereo and in the mix of it all he some how mistaken it. For grnd. I diconnected the wires andtape them off. And all is working again.
I still would like to thank this site and all the people who contribute in helping others with their advice.
