hey everyone,
i am in the middle of replacing my starter on my 4.0 SOHC and the new starter has a new wire coming off of the starter and it says "DO NOT REMOVE THIS LEAD!! CRIMP AND HEATSHRINK TO EXISTING LEAD" but my old starter does not have this on it so i have no idea what it wants me to crimp it to am i ok to take it off and leave it off?? it is the smaller wire not the 12v, help greatly appreciated

they had the same amount but this one was also attached to where the ignition wire goes

Strange...if it is just bolted on and will come right off I would remove it.And then install as usual.I wonder why they wanted you to splice it?

well i decided to take it off and install it that way but it still wont start, i a now told i need the neutral safety switch
