starting system no crank no start 91 explorer

hello my 91 4wd Automatic transmission explorer isnt starting has good battery connections, starter works when tested, and fender side mount starter relay activates and clicks when hooked up directly to batter, and no blown fuses. please help

2 things come to mind. The connections may look good, but a very common issue is bad wire inside the battery cables. They are old, and if you see brown wires when pulling back the insulation I bet it is your problem.

Have you tried moving the shift lever to the neutral position? There is a switch on the transmission that turns off the starter relay if the truck is in gear, allowing it to operate in neutral and Park only.

However, I still think the battery cables are to blame.
 






I've manually put the transmission in park and neutral and still nothing. And the battery cables are good they run power to everything else

But there might not be enough current reaching the starter circuit.

Turn on your headlights. Do they dim when you switch the key to start?
 






nope the lights don't dim the radio turns on as loud as possible still nothing
