Stealership PCM update?

So I went in today to see if I could update the PCM and was told that I have to pay $67 to $100 for them to hook up a PC and see if they can update my PCM. I was bit upset as I am unsure if this will even help and was told I have to pay regardless due to work performed.

So, I was looking to see if I understood the tuning the way I have been exposed to it. If I am not mistaken, in my 96 w/ 4r55e. I have a single PCM that controls all the parameters such as shift points and TC lock up. Now with all that said, my SCT livewire in theory flashes the PCM ROM.

With all this said, if I return my stock tune and allow the PCM update via the stealership (if available) is there any benefit? As I see it possibly, due to not knowing how much adjustment was done in my tuning already (from James Henson).

We usually charge $45 for this.
