Steering column smoking

Noticed a slight puff of smoke coming from my 2000 EB steering column. Theft light remained on but I shut it off to be safe. Everything else seems to work. I may take for a test drive later today to see if symptoms persist. Smoke came from between the column and dash area not air bag. Anyone else had this issue or is it ready to trade in? Truck only has 107K on it.

mine did this a lot for a while, it since stopped. if im not mistaken it comes from the blinker switch inside the steering wheel column, i was concerned about it for a while until i realized it was that switch when my blinkers would remain steady on every once and a while.

yeep, what explored2013 said. replace the switch, which is easy to do and you'll be fine

my 2000 sport done this for a spell too .original switch still going strong though .
i think there was a tsb about that issue .
