steering shaft extension

hey guys got all i need to do a body lift (2 inch) only i dont have a steering shaft extension, some say you dont need and others say you do. is this true? and if only some do why is that and how can you tell if your x needs one

There's enough play in the slip joint of the steering shaft to cover the gap for a 2" body lift. Those who used the extension may not have even tried to raise the body "as is" first. Don't disconnect the shaft from the steering box. Raise the body just high enough to get the "pucks" in place and you'll be good to go.
