Anyone have a guide to change the headlamps? I have the HID's and need to get to swap them out. From what i understand it needs to be done with the front taken off...please help.

I just need the guide,

Thanks

I did not remove my front to install the headlights or fog lights.

The only thing I removed was the air box.

I don't have a guide....but it's fairly easy.

Remove the stock bulb.
Mount the ballast within a foot or so of the back of light.
Plug ballast into bulb and factory harness into the other wire.
They are male / female coming off the ballast, you really can't get them backwards unless your kit has a separate relay.

If so, try it one way, if it doesn't work, reverse it.

Thanks Cobra.

I already have factory HID so i wanna take that out and replace it with the same type just different color.

Appreciate you answering though.

You don't have to take the front off. you can change from the engine compartment.

The passenger side has relativly good access but the driver side will take more work to get to.

- On the driver side, the fusebox is in the way. you have to remove the airbox, battery and battery tray. Unscrew main power lead going to fusebox. now you will be able to unclip the fusebox from the fender and move it out of the way(push towards engine). you will then have access to the back of the headlight assemply.
- You will need a #10 torx screwdriver and small needle nose pliers.
- Remove the headlight bulb cover cap.
- Use the pliers and a blade screw driver to pry(downwards) the cable connector off the bulb.
- There are 2 torx screws holding the bulb in.
- Magnetize your #10 torx screwdriver first so you don't loose the screws when you remove them.
- Remove the 2 torx screws (one on either size of the bulb base).
- You can remove the bulb now.
- It will have an attachment bracket that will need to be transfered to the new bulb. Make sure the bracket is tight on the new bulb. some tweaking to the pressure prongs may be necessary if a little loose.
- Reverse the procedures to install the new bulb.

Tip: i tied a piece of dental floss to each screw before installing incase it dropped.

Its tight and tedious.
Good luck.

fyi, here's where I got mine and they are nice. its a great deal on philps 6000K hids(while they last):

Good info...thanks very much. I took one look today and I think I am gonna pay the $50 to get it done by a shop.

Probably not a bad idea if you aren't comfortable with giving it a try.

It's definitly not as simple as changing a halogen bulb.
