still want lift spacers?

Btf 2.25 spacers install chapter 1

I am in the process of doing the lift but due to having a sick kiddo and mom working I have to do fronts on day one and then rears on day two. Tonight i did the fronts and I have to say this is a direct bolt system no grinding or cuting needed and the hardest part i had was the 24mm lower strut bolt that had attached it self to the rubber bushing.

I soked everything in PB Blaster and let sit for a few then took the wheel off and and removeed the swaybar end link.

Then I removed the 24mm lower strut mount bolt and you will need to bring it out a littel and pb blast it and run back then walk away for a few. After the lower removed I removed the 3 / 13 mm top strut mount plate nuts be catious not to rush these if they brake your down till you get a top mount plate. I Pb Blasted them and ran them out then in a few times.

Then after removing the strut out of the way I placed the suplied bolts in the spacer and slid over the top of the original strut plate.

I put mine in prior so i did not have to mess with holding the BTF spacer up and then slide the bolt in.

I found from doing other lifts it is easier to bring the nuckle to the upper balljoint using the weight of the vehicle then forcing the upper control arm/balljoint and nuckle to the lower strut mount.

Let me know if you have questions, I got up at 4 am with my daughter so I am beat and if this is choppy I am sorry . Also this took 1.5 hrs a side and I did it with out a lift and just my self.

Looks like it went pretty smooth. I was surprised that the upper ball joint was separated. You never mentioned pooping it loose.

any pictures of the final product?

the upper has a post on the end and if you losen the nut to the end of the post and use a brass hammer it frees with ease

Exactly what point did you need to pop it? What did it do to help?

I recently installed this product also, your suspension has to travel down a long, long, long way to get the longer struts in there. I had to pop the upper ball joint, and remove my calipers to get enough droop to jimmy the lower bolt into the struts.

looks sweet! nice job brandon

Hi, what size tires are on bamnq6's truck? And is there any body lift? or just your spacers? btw they look top notch Brandon and I think mine will make the list for spacers. I have the 3" body lift installed and new 265's on it now.

I don't know for sure, but judging from his signature, they are 265/75/R16 no bodylift.

Correct. 265/75/R16. They rub the wheel well plastics at full lock, but other than that they fit and look great. I've tried to ziptie treatment, but they still snag... So I'm just avoidin full lock, parking requires a bit more planing.

A full install write-up / How-to is in the works, should be done shortly.

ride quality

.

Hows the ride quality with the 265's and the spacers in? any differetn than before?

also, is it ok to still trailer heavy loads with the spacers in? ie trailer full of wood or 2 jetskis

You can trailer/tow just fine with spacers...I'm running RB spacers and I tow a 17' bass boat, a 10' utility trailer, as well as a SeaDoo RXP jet ski around all the time on mine

Very nice stuff, I am getting married very soon so after we get back home I will be after a set of these babies. I have 2 rear broken springs I will be replacing plus struts. Always something to play with. Thanks for the info Brandon & BamnQ6..and others on here.

The ride is much improved, albeit a bit stiffer/tighter? This has little to do with the spacer lift itself. My OEM struts were 110k tired, replaced with Rancho RSX = much improvement!!!!! My tires went from bald-ish light truck Hercules SUV tires to 10 ply truck tires, BFG A/T's, running at significantly increased tire pressure, nearly double. I believe this is where the stiffer / tighter feeling arrives. But it rides very nice for a lifted truck, markedly close to OEM ride. No additional sway, no rocking at stops as I've felt in other lifted vehicles. I'll add that it's slightly less "spry" and you definately notice the increase tire diameter / mass when accelerating from a stop. I have nooo problem driving slow thou, gas is $3.30 out here...

I have to apologize for not having the 2.25 lift spacers complete with pics but i had to switch gears and prep family vehicles for travel ,we had a passing in the family but i asure you i will have this done with pics for the rear ASAP. Also I want to do a spacer but was not sure if 2inch is to much or 1 inch is to little. Please advise if you have any info on this .

I love a lifted X on BFG's ! <3

I went with a 2" rear spacer and you can see on the axle shafts very clearly where they were rubbing the frame loops.

If you guys want to suspension lift these trucks I would recommend no more than a 2" front and 1.5" rear. When I had my spacers in I got 3.5" of lift front and back from a 2.25"/2" spacer set up. Now all Ex's seem to respond a bit different, but mine DID NOT like that much lift. I had spring interference front and back (meaning there are gouges out of the plastic covering). My rear axle shafts are scored from the lift. And the lift combined with the tires made the truck handle less than desireably.

Whether you get Brandon's spacers, Truxx or other, these are the things you will need to be aware of and watch out for. Also, when you do lift it, get an alignment done. If you don't you're just going to wear things out even faster, including the nice 32" or 33" tires you just got to go with your lifted rig.
