The 4WD truck has 32k miles and everything is stock with the exception of the new tires. I guess I just wanted wider tires. I replaced the GY wranglers with Big O Big Foot A/T's, but I don't like the new "feel". To me the ride is "squishy" or it feels like I am riding on marshmellows. To me a SUV should be tight and stiff. No problems with the shop, I just need to figure out what I want to do.

Could the wider / taller tires (what 10MM in height and width) make for a softer/squishy ride?

Would an LT tire make much of a difference? I had Yoko AT LT's on my Montero, which I liked the ride, however it had a tighter suspension. I have owned several 4WD's and the closest to off road I get is when we get snow in the local mountains or I drive on my in laws dirt driveway out in the desert.

I increased the tire pressure from about 33 to 38 and that made a difference but I am still not satisfied.

I am planning on going back to the stock size 255 70 16.
Any thoughts/ideas?

Thanks in advance for your time

Honestly the tire could be made with softer compounds which BTW means they will wear faster.

Thanks

Most off road type tires are made out of a softer compound ie super swampers; their life span is like 20k if that. If your looking into aggressive off road style tires check out pro comp extreme a/ts. I had some on my f150 and they where guaranteed 40k and they were great on road not much tire noise and off road they got it in the mud.

what is the load range on those tires?
"c" soft squishy ride
"D" firmer ride
"E" gone to far very stiff commercial tires not suited for SUV
