So I found these at a local junkyard:

I was wondering if it was worth it even if the subwoofer was damaged to purchase the part just for the plastic "box". Or should I just build one out of MDF? How is the quality like? I know it only fits an 8", but I can always modify it to fit 10"+. Just wanted input on the plastic box and if it is worth it. The junkyard quoted me $80 on the setup.

Decent for people who just need some bottom octave fill.

For just a little more money I would buy this sub.

I could design you up a 1 cu ft box with a 3" round port that would sound 10x better than the stock sub box. And it wouldn't take up much space only about 1.6 cu ft external dimensions.

This amp...low priced...good quality power.

little 8 gauge wiring kit is all you need

Guarantee you'll be shocked by the sound from that little 8" sub and 150 watts.

Damn, what a ripoff for $80 CAD...

I think I paid $12 for mine, and that was only because the two OEM amps were still attached to it. The OEM speaker was trash, so I left it in the junkyard. No reason to pay for it.

Not a bad setup. If you can swing the extra money, the HF 8 is a true beast, and on sale most of the time. The Sundown e8 and the DD 1508 ($$$$$) are also great contenders.

Yeah I thnk I'll just build my own sub w an 8" that you guys suggested. I'm glad I didn't buy that junky setup a the yard. I was lookng around locally and fond a Rockford 325.1 amp for $80. Not sure if that will fit inside the pqnel as it's 11" x11"x2". What do you guys think?

I'm just curious why the 8 gauge instead of recommended 4 gauges? I'm new to all this so your advice is teaching me a lot. I'm reading the specs on the Kenwood and it powers 75watt at 2ohms, is it really that underrated to be able to power the 150watt Tang Band?

Aaron

edit nvm apparently for this amp recommended is 8 gauge.
I might go ahead and purchase what you suggested but what sort of enclosure were you recommending?

8 gauge is more than big enough to handle the small load from that amp. Bridge the amp to the sub.

Whenever you need the enclosure plans lmk

How much are you charging? I'm thinking of going a different way for the sub tho, I read some reviews saying it's more SPL oriented rather than the SQ that I want in my truck. Any suggestions? I was looking at some Arc Audio 10s but can't find any stores selling them. What else is good (8" or 10")

PM me enclosure questions.

The TB 8" sub is not spl oriented...I don't know where you are getting that...anyone could be posting those reviews who have no clue about anything. Take those with a grain of salt.

Tang Band is much higher quality than Kicker. Kicker Comps are "ok". I would never buy them.

You worry about sound quality...yet you ask about a 8L5? I wouldn't look that those either.

I wouldn't underestimate the Tang Band. IMO much better quality. It will sound much better and get deeper than the Kicker.

Sweet thanks man, really appreciate your input. I definitely agree with you, reviews are very subjective. You sound to be really into audio, what music have you listened to with the tang band? (I replied to you on the other post too haha, thanks so much for your input)

Oh I posted the kicker because one of my friends suggested it. But then again, as aformentioned, it is a subjective opinion.
