So Hotweels and I hook up last weekend and redo the intake manifold gaskets on my truck. We decide to go for a run at a local mud hole just for the heck of it, make sure that my truck is running ok.

Pretty late when we got me out!!!

We get there, we're drivin around, the ground seems to be OK. Did I mention I've never offroaded before? That's worth mentioning. Dan says "you gonna drive around in that" I say "you sure I can make it through that" he says "ya sure, and if not I've got 50ft of tow strap". Ok so I start driving into this muck and a truck with much larger tires than I had gone in before and left some deep ruts. So I stay ontop of the ground that he pushed up. Slip, slop bang fall into his ruts. Grounded, just spittin water no traction at all. Dan hook up his tow straps and tries to pull me out. He sinks instantly, now he's sitting on his diffs as well. So while he's jackin his truck up, me, his wife(girlfriend?) and her mom are out grabbin boards, rocks, floor mats, just whatever we can find to throw under his wheels and lift him up. Fastforward two hours later we get his truck out. Go buy another 60ft of tow strap and splice it together. Finally we hook everything together and besides breaking the strap once, we get me pulled out. I'm being towed out through the same line as he was so I go over all the boards and rocks that we through under his truck. Crash bang snap, hmmm tranny and driveshaft still work so we must be ok. All in all it took about 5 hours to get out of that predicament. Next day I look underneath and there's some 2x8 and 2x4 chunks of wood wedged between crossmember and oil pan and frame and skid plate. I'll post pics of that once i figure out a way to pull them out and straigten the crossmember.

Now I know why guys run bigger tires and lift thier trucks!:D Thanks to Dan for staying there and pulling me out, did I mention he had his 3 week old son with him?

Sounds like fun:D

Now wasn't that alot of fun!? Now that you got your feet, and realize why we modify our trucks, you can too.:D Then it gets real fun.
Congrats on your maiden trip. Hope you have many more to come.:chug:

Woohoo! Sounds like a good trip and you learned alot. Your buddy Dan sounds like a good man!

mmmmm, yummy mud! whenever i go out muddin' i always take plenty of boards. sounds like y'all did that though. guess it was just a little too muddy, eh?

glad everyone's ok and that you had some fun!

Nice, good old Alberta muck. Time to get the pressure washer out. :)

Ya it was a riot. The sheer terror of thinking i might have to leave all my stuff in there and comeback to get it another time only made me more elated once we got it out. What a rush! Actually it wsnt, there was never a doubt in my mind, I knew we'd be able to pull it out. ;)

LOL, I was scared so badly when I took my stock X out
and almost got it stuck several times.

I had to drive to work the next day :P

Glad you were so confident, i wasent. The 31x12.5 boggers are still in the paper if you want em :D. yep that was a lot of fun thats the most tow strap i have ever seen being used a one time good thing it worked cause they just put up a NO TRESPASING sign and i think some people got ticketed. With a bit of lift i think you will really enjoy wiaprouse area (summer is gonna be a blast) but i need to do the front u-joints before i twist a shaft off. BTW thats a good shot of the PIAA's

Guys i know it was fun at all but please try not to trespass on private property. It gives all the wheelers a bad name.

Its actully a un-developed right of way owned by the city but people skirt around a farmers field to get there and i guess the farmer does not like that so if you want to get there you will have to have 38"s + now!! (but its still public land) it might be a negative attitude but many boggers have used the excuse of there not being signs to avoid a ticket it even works with park wardens, very sad.

Sounds like my first time behind the wheel in the mud behind my high school. Stuck all day, finally got a tow truck to drive back and winch me out! Next week there was a gate over the pass (same deal farmers drive to a field) to get back to where I was.

Jason_25 - yes it was private property that I went through to get there. No damage done. I don't do that sort of thing now, remember I was 16 and I didn't always make the best descisions.

Oh I'm not saying I've made the best decisions either. I used to go mudding in alot of illegal areas. But over time I found that going on "legal" trails is alot more fun, and most of the time the trails are not just challenging, but scenic as well.

Oh I new what you were saying, just wanted to help hold your point of staying in designated areas.

that looks alot like where i got my explorer stuck the first time, only it was half way in a frozen puddle. Now, frozen mud, and frozen water arent good when it comes to being stuck, lemme tell ya! It didnt budge with two 10,000# winches pullin from two 300 hp chevys in reverse also. DIDNT EVEN BUDGE!! had to leave it there overnite and dig for 6 hrs the next day and had about a ton of ice glued to the frame. luckily the farmer was a good guy and cheered me on even. What an experienc/lesson!
