ok heres a quick run down . its a 2002 85xxxx on it. just replaced both front wheel hubs about 3 weeks ago.

Suddenly, while driving, depressing the brake i feel a metal vibration in the pedal. stopping is OK, no noise just a clanking vibration in pedal. ABS light comes on, vibration stops, braking and pedal are fine. Turn the car off, light is gone, metal clanky vibration back then light comes on vibration gone. Wash, rinse, repeat

What is going on here?? any ideas before i get bambozled by a brake place?

ceck the connectors for the abs sensors. make sure the wire coming out of the hub is plugged in and not damaged

ok but what could be causing the rattle then the ecu turns off the abs ( i assume) by the abs light coming on, then no rattle?

if the abs wire is loose, it could be causing the abs to activate when it shouldn't giving you that feeling in the pedal. I would also check all the bolts to make sure nothing is loose. Something might have not been tightened down all the way, or worked its way free since you worked on it.
