Any ideas on how to get it out of 4x4 low? I have a 2005 XLT 4.0L with the K engine. I put it in 4x4 low to go up a steep in deep snow and both the 4x4 auto and 4x4 high buttons are not responding.

make sure you are in N on the dash indicator,, put it in 4low again,, once the light comes on,stay in N switch it to back to 4wd auto , and than reverse and back up 20 feet slowly,, you should feel it let out of 4low,,

Foot has to be on the brake. (At least in my second gen it did). I never had to back up, however, to get out of low. I thought that was an old auto hub thing. Otherwise, you might have to pull the shift motor, and shift it with a wrench.

After letting it thaw out that took care of the issue. Thank You
