Stuck or not working tachometer.

1997 explorer AWD XLT 5.0
2000 explorer xlt 2wd. 4.0. With engine running tach is not registering. 0 rpm. when i tap on dashboard just above insterment panel. It jumps to whatever rpm it is running at that time. Is there any quick fixs any other experiences like this??? 200k miles. I just bought it runs great. Thanks
 






Sounds like a broken solder joint in the tack stepper motor

On the back of that gauge you will have to remove your cluster to re solder

I appreciate the quick response that's kind of what I was thinking and I had to do also I'll go ahead and attack the problem and you an update be safe and stay healthy
