Hey. I am trying to install subs in my 96 explorer but i dont want huge boxes in the back. i though about getting a truck box and fitting it under the back seat or making stealth boxes in the trunk area.

I know the sport trac's have under the seat boxes for 10" subs so I dont see why you can't fit one under there. Might have to go to a stereo shop and custom make one tho which is more $$$$.

i took out my back seats to put subs under them. under the carpet is a plastic spacer that it about an inch or an inch and a half think. even with the plastic piece gone there was no way in hell i was gonna fit a 10" sub under the seat. i would reccomend 2 single small boxes, or even one small box in the cargo area......hope that helps somewhat and saves you sometime.

there is a difference between sports and 4drs though... like he said sport no way in hell but my buddy has had dvd players and xboxs under his...4dr...take a look and get some mdf and find a sub with a small magnet so its not to deep and make your own...its prolly the best way to start...then you will have what you want...as for stealth... like you said thats your other option in the back...

subs under seats sound terrible. build a stealth box, you'll enjoy it more.

thanks for the help. im just going to get some small boxes for the trunk space.
