who runs a supercharger or a turbo on their explorer? what kind did you use and what are some good and bad things about it. i would like to get one where i could keep my fuel system as close to stock as i can just because of the loss in gas mileage. i tend to have a heavy foot so the having more power and using less trottle doesnt really apply to me unless its so much my wheels cant hook up. i have a 98 with the 302 in it. also if i just found a kit for a 5.0 mustang that should work fine shouldnt it or is there somethng im missing. let me know. major

The guy named "ALEC" does. However, there are a bunch of threads on this so do a search too.

Not sure if a mustang kit would work easily or not. Mustangs had different ignition systems and different accesory set ups. It may take quite a lot of mods to make it work.

Explorer Express makes a roots-type blower kit for the 5.0L explorers specifically. Check it out here, its called the X-Charger www.explorerexpress.com

You can talk to Alec all ya want, but that won't help ya as much. Troll and I believe Pur Pony have V-8's with the superchargers... There are more, I just don't know who off hand...

Alec helped me out a lot...

Right, you've got the V-6... Which is why he was such a benifit, cause that's what he's got... Major has a V-8. Yes Alec too could help them, but there are a few others who have the hands on exprience with the V-8's....

if you have a 302 in your truck, a twin turbo setup would be damn cool, but very pricey. even a single turbo is gonna be more money than a supercharger, but if you can afford it, its worth it, i think.

I would suggest supercharging over turbocharging. For one, it's usually cheaper, and it's less abuse on the engine. Turbocharging uses exhaust gas to spin an impeller, which turns the compressor to create the boost. Since you are using exhaust gas, you get a lot of heat bleedover, which isn't good. Intercooling helps compensate for this, but it adds more $$. Turbocharging also is rougher on the engine because you go from an ambient pressure condition to a boosted condition and back down ever time you stomp on it and let off. This pressure cycling can cause flexural fatigue failure in components. Supercharging is definitely less harmful to the motor. No exhaust gasses to increase temperature, and a constant pressure on the motor.
