i can do without it!
the new battery box came today, along with 32 spark plugs (the guy even paused for a bit then i told him i always order a butt load of plugs at a time). probably try to change them tonight or tomorrow, back evil out so i can shovel out where it sits then put it back and hopefully start working on it.

So last night, I got all my plugs changed and I figured I would fire it up and back it out so I can shovel all the snow away that we got. They are also still blowing the streets as well.
As I was backing out, I didn’t see the plow coming, and ended up right in front of it. I’m banged up, but from the rear tires back on evil aren’t so hot. They had to tow it to an impound lot. I’ll have to see how bad it is, but I do know it’s not repairable. Was too dark for picks so I will have to get some when I go to the lot later.
Anyone know of a clean shell sport for sale?

I'm a few pages behind.
Wow! on the collision.
When looking at Rockauto 2015 Dodge Challenger Supercharge, what category does one find the vacuum pump under?
ADDED: I found the pump under brakes.

What!!! She’s totalled? Oh man so sorry to hear
And on April fools day too

Glad it’s not true sheesh I only have a 92 sport body for parts so you would have to start all over

anyone that knows me well enough (like @Dono) knows this is the type of person i am, trying to prank anyone. i would even lay money down when he was reading this, he had a smirk on his face and didnt believe anything past the first sentence.
i might try again this weekend. did a fast look at the new battery box kit, the wire they send is 1 gauge (20 feet for positive, 3 negative). the box just fits between my sub box and panel. i have enough wire to run from the back of the truck, down the side, across the rad support, and to the drivers apron. that leave me with some spare i can use for other stuff. just want to get this started and behind me so i can get to my flip. i am going to have a summer that will make my head spin once again.

whats unbelievable is this. if you get the HELLA 358157001 pump, the STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS VCP199 or the DORMAN 904856 its the same pump in this kit, but way more money.

summit even sells the dorman one and it cost more.
the reason why i pulled one from the wrecker is i dont need all that other stuff to run it. i may take a vacuum ball off another explorer or ranger and modify it for a larger line so that i have reservoir however.

This pump is a super cool find. Are you going to valve it as a pump assist to the engince vac, or stand alone?
And I obviously could not see you being hit by a snow plow. Lol.

going to do stand alone. more then likely less hassle. want to try and hide it inside the drivers fender if possible. even with tossing the battery inside the truck everything is crammed under the hood as is.
i also knew you wouldnt buy my bs lol

I had bought a vacuum pump for an approximately 2015 F-350 to make vacuum for a 1965 Mustang 6 cylinder that I added a 1985 Mustang power brake booster to and the F-350 pump was designed to only make enough vacuum to switch the AC baffles and not enough to make the brake booster work. I'm glad to see that you located a production pump to do such. The little 6 cyl doesn't make enough vacuum on its own.
I made a tank out of 3" pvc pipe, 2 caps and drilled and tapped a hole in it to thread in a brass fitting.
Thanks for the find. BTW, DM sent.

I almost fell for the snow plow thing you had me for about 15 seconds… I saw you posted real early in the am and it was April one then my brain clicked. Lots of relief to realize evil was not toasted… that would have seriously sucked and the city would say it was your fault because plows have the right of way ;)

today was the first time in a long time that i didnt have to wear a winter jacket, 2 sweaters, 3 pairs of long underwear, thermo underwear, a snowmoble suit, 4 pairs of socks, heated socks, mits, balaclava, ski mask, and a toque (two weeks ago we had a foot or so of snow on the ground).
last week i pulled the rad and water pump off with a few small things and that was as far as i got. today everything from the intake up came off. i wanted to see what the new set up would fit like.

disregard the paper towel. the old goop was still on the heads. fit pretty much how i figured it would. was able to close the hood and not hit the pulley. speaking of the pulley it has to still go back about a 1/8 of a inch. i hope that will do it because the hub might be getting real close the seal and retainer. granted nothing is on it yet but to me this will be much cleaner. or its looking that way right now. took everything off cleaned all the old gaskets and goop off that i used to seal everything up. did that ever leave a mess behind.
first little hiccup was the stock heater rail wont fit. the threaded opening on the highram is too small. kinda sucked because i wanted to put that back on. moving on the second was i had to clearance the plate for a vacuum line fitting at the top of the base. no big deal either. the highram is good to go in now as long as i dont run into anything else. will see how far i get tomorrow.

today was once again very nice outside! speedo weather even......neighbours wernt too impressed however.
moving on.
motivation was at a all time low today for some reason. didnt get a whole lot done. i did mount the meth pump but i cheated because its in the same spot as i had it before, on the passengers fender apron between the fender and fender apron. its funny. this thread is out of control with the pages that i have. i know i have a picture of the old one someplace. ya think i can find it?
nope.

also mounted the controller for it also in the old spot. same story, cant find the old picture of it anyplace. that is tucked up on the passengers kick panel.

also now that i am mounting the batter in the back i will have some space where i had it mounted. figured this would be a great place for the vacuum pump. i was also going to hide it inside the fender apron but decided not to, or at least for now. need to drill a couple of holes and that job will be done.

i am going to also put a spot for jumping the truck. dont really want to but the way i park it in the winter, the box in the back is not accessible. im going to drop it down a little so it sits a little lower then the rad support.

i also have a water prof distribution block and a battery cut off switch to put there someplace as well. when i finalize it, i can start running wires. btw, anyone have a better idea on where to put this stuff im about to put in, speak now!

i also figured out what i am going to do for the heater hose on the intake. im going to use a 3/8 npt to -10AN adaptor to thread into the intake, then get a -10AN 45 twist lock hose end, then to the heater hose. ive seen some videos where guys were using big brass bocks and ran the hose inside the intake. it looked horrible as well. this should work better. just have to order the fittings as well as some others for the fuel rail that i messed up on.
speaking of ordering parts, got a monster of a break for once. when i called summit to see what i might need, they asked for the highram intake part number. looked into my order history to find it. when i did, i clicked on it but now it was a lower price then what i bought it from. i asked the guy what was up with that, he tried saying one was canadain price, the other US price. i told him they both were in US funds. i also asked if the price dropped if there was anyway i could be refunded the difference. after being transferred to customer service and explaining it again she told me it must be on sale. after also saying i am still in the window of returning it (just) she said "ok, i will forward this to accounting for monday. next week you should see the refund on your credit card."
SCORE! the difference is about $320 US, which exchanges to about $440 canadain! WHOOT! i can afford eat AND buy that tank of gas i have been dreaming about!

I took the 5.0 heater manifold and simply cut it 1.5”
After the sensor… and clamp the hose to that

Placement of things looks good! Moving the battery gives you a bunch of space!

What I didn’t know is the explorer heater hard line fitting is 9/16 (I think) npt. The hole on the the Holley high ram is 3/8 npt.

Looking good!

not a ton to report. was once again nice, i had some energy after work. ok, after my old man nap.
had to order some fittings that came in. i really dont even want to know how much i have spent on fittings alone for everything that i have done to this thing over the years. however this was what i was talking about earlier with the heater core lines.

fits perfect as well. i havent used the steel lines since i put a m122 on, this will be the same or better as the last fitting i had because this one will swivel to where it has to be. wished i would have though of this for the innercooler mount.

also one thing leads to another. i had my map in a vacuum block as i call it that was mounted where the stock pcm was. i had to modify the block for it to work. it also leaked ever so slightly. i also had a hard plastic push lock line feeding the block that also leaked ever so slightly. both those bothered me. lucky enough the high ram has a prevision for the map sensor. however, if you try to use the 3/8's npt beside it, what ever fitting you use interferes with it. had to grind it down as well as shave a bit off the map for them to fit. now i have the important stuff mounted where it should be. i however now have to get a new vacuum block because i drilled it for the map.

first world problems.

this weekend i want to mount and wire the battery box so i can power the truck again, wire the meth kit in, mount the vacuum pump and wire that as well. anything past that will be gravy.

positive wire is also ran under the carpit, and into the engine bay as well. trying to figure out how i want to do the negative cable. if i want to run it through the floor to the frame then back to the body, or to the hold down post ( i welded a nut to a washer, then that to the floor. it is the rods that hold the battery in place of the box) then run a ground to the frame up front. will have a couple of days to figure it out, its going to be crappy tomorrow, and i am also working the stat holiday for big bucks.......so evil can live a better life while i suffer.
