Hello guys got another question for ya.

Ok I have a 99 wrecked explorer I am going to use in a jeep swap I am using the 8.8,5.0 motor harness ect from it. I was looking at a 96 but this one was in much better shape. What is the major problems you guys think I will have with the OBDII system? A lot of posts I read really stress staying away from that system. I know that it has the pats system in it, is that the main reason or is there something else? I have the whole vehicle so any parts or sensors will not be a problem. Any help or advice would be great.

have you solved the problem of mounting the engine in the wrangler body

pilot its a 99 wrangler

dynamite yep there is an adaptor made for it bolts right in.

devil yep people do it all the time.

Believe it or not this is a very very popular swap. Ford wise a 302 or 351 Windsor carb motors are common. Next would be a mustang 5.0 efi but people want a mint for a wrecked mustang because it’s a sport car. The 96-01 explorers 5.0's are basically a detuned cobra motor. But ford motors are not the only ones people put in. amc v8's ls1 motors all sorts. There are a lot of adaptors out here for the cj, yj, tj jeeps. A mustang would have run me around $1500 wrecked. I would have only been able to use the motor. With an explorer I get the whole drive train to swap in. Including the 8.8 rear end which almost bolts in after you cut off all the explorer mounts. Since the CJ style of jeep stopped having v8 in them since the mid 80's swaps are very popular. The only big deal I may have is the pats system on the 99 and getting it to run on a non pats system. I have heard I can send off the comp. and get it reflashed to get rid of the pats. It’s some work but a 2000# wrangler with an efi 5.0 in it is a BAD ride.:biggthump
