How involved would it be to try to convert the M5OD-R1 in my '94 Explorer from the hydraulic clutch to a cable setup? I'm sick and tired of dealing with the hydraulic issues. I've searched old threads about this but couldn't find anything.

Despite a recent bleeding, I'm still having problems getting the transmission into gear if it gets hot. My truck does this every freaking year, usually at the beginning of summer. If I could have a cable-actuated clutch I would be a lot happier.

Are you sure your slave cylinder/throw-out bearing isn't on it's way out?

Even when ALL the parts are new, the thing gives me problems. All Ford parts except for the clutch (Centerforce). I just want the system gone so all I have to worry about is a cable breaking.

clutch fork would have to come outside the transmissions case, you may be able to adapt and earlier 4 speed manual manual clutch setup to your Mazda 5 speed, I do not think its been done before.

The WC T5 conversion has been done however, that trans uses a manual clutch I believe

Are you not kidding especially when it's -30 C out side!! I never did find a conversation but I know people have done a T5 conversation Truckin magazine did one for supercharged Mazda Ranger 4L

With all that said one would think we could get the hydraulics working? If you use hood parts like luk and do the bench bleeding properly… then you still get a trapped air bubble there are ways to free it
I have setup 20+ of these and over the years have learned how to remove that pesky trapped air leaving me with a system that works and lasts for 150-200k miles easy
