Does anyone have any information on changing out the flat 4 pin trailer plug on my 06 mountaineer for a 7 pin plug? I know the vehicle was offered with that plug as an option, was hoping to find a clean oem option.

As per some searches, I can buy a 7 pin that plugs into the USCAR plug, but I can’t seem to find that plug under the truck.

I currently have a trailer with a 7 pin plug and would rather change the plug on the truck than run with a backwards adapter. I understand that truck still won’t have a brake controller.

Thank you!

You can use a 7 pin that uses the 4 pin you already have for stop/tail/turn lights.

If you want the rest of the functions, You just have to wire the reverse by tapping into them in the back if needed, and the brake wire from the controller. Power wire from battery isolator is also optional.

Thanks for the help!
