Has anyone switched to the sylvania ultra xtra vision lights? If so is there a difference in wattage between these bulbs and the stock halogens that might require heavy duty connectors, or would they be alright just to switch them out bulb for bulb? Thanks!

I havent tried them but if you can get them in the store & they say OEM on the package I would imagine that they are OK with the factory wiring.
However the factory wiring is inadequate to produce all the light a bulb can produce.
A wiring harness can and will give you more light as it will put more volts to the bulb than the OEM wires.

A separate harness with heavy gauge wire would help the bulbs burn brighter, but it would decrease its lifespan in the process.

Ya know, I'm not really sure, but I dont think that supplying all the volts that the bulbs were rated for will decrease their lifespan.
Overpowering the with a Catz Zeta system or something similar may decrease their life but the bulbs were manufactured for 13 or so volts.

I just put a set in my 02 mounty last night and love them. I have used silverstar for all my family's cars and would not go without them. I really didnt want to spend the money ($50) retail, but I also did not want to wait for shipping either through ebay.

So there I was last night at advanced auto with a problem. I came in looking for dash lights for the wifes ion and was just staring at the ultras. I knew I was going to get new lights but just wasnt sure i wanted to get them last night. I bit the bullet and got them. $50 for my lights and $2 for hers. I installed them last night as well as the silverstar blinkers that are clear blue then amber. The were a great improvement over the stock lights I had but I am not sure they are better than regular silverstar. They are whiter than the wifes car with the regular silverstar.

So..after senselessly babbling on. I bought them and love them. No, their not HID or projectors but the output is great.
