i keep bothering the people at sylvania about getting their HID kits for the explorer. I finally got an answer:
"Dear Dan,
Thank you for your interest in the XENARC product line. According to the literature I have been provided with from our Marketing Dept, the X2010 kit does fit the 2001 Explorer. I will certainly verify this for you, it this is what you would like.

As far as the previous years, we do offer the XENARC HID Low Beam Auxiliary kit. That kit can mount to most any vehicle, and when used with the Silver Star capsules, offers the look and benefits of HID lighting. If this is something you are interested in, please let me know and I can give you more information.

Thanks again for your interest in our products and I look forward to hearing from you.
Best regards,

That is the F150 kit. Does anyone knoe if they are compatable? I thought the F150 light units were MUCH too big for the Xs.

your best bet is the low beam kit or another brand off road HIDs. 95 to 98 fluted headlamp lenses suck. Youll get better beam spread with multi surface reflector

Are the 2001 headlamps different than the 1998?

naw, they are the same from 95-01 except the 01 sport

How are the 01 SPorts different?

The '01 Sports look way different. they don't even have the same headlights, blinkers, or rear lights.
