Sync V3.0 to V3.4 Upgrade

Seems this can't be found yet...?

I want to do 3.4 20021, but want that file like you said.

Yeah, I haven't seen it pop up in any of the usual spots yet either. In the past people have jumped on those other forums to ask for links to them, I think that's how they added the last voice pack.

Hopefully today. I'd like to give it a shot.

Looks like it is up and ready. Saw on the F150 thread.

Just built my usb with 3.4 20021 and the new voice file. Going out to see if it works.

Now decided to try to upgrade to NA 1.19 maps.

Seems like you have to revert back to 3.4 19200, then reformat, the reinstall a full 3.4 20021.

I'll let you know...

Success! I am updated to SYNC 3.4 20021 with NA 1.19 Maps.

I will say thanks to the guys on the F150 & Ranger5G forums for helpful info.

If anyone needs any help I feel confident that I can.

Remember I had SYNC 3.0 first. It is a little different and easier for those with SYNC 3.2 or 3.3.

Glad i found this thread, I just did the sync3 upgrade from sync 2 on my 14 sport, I lucked out and found a Gen 4 apim already running 3.3 with nav. I also have a 17 mkz that is stuck on 3.0.. It had an update available 871 and 971 depending on which I look, but I read the 3.4 from 1st Gen apim stuck on 3 may have an issue so I'm wondering if doing the mkz is worth it then I read you did yours from 3.0? Any suggestions differing from the f150 forum instructions? Thanks in advance!

Not sure what 871 or 971 is.

Yes I did mine from 3.0.

On the Sport it would be easy to upgrade. All you need is the apps file. If you wanted to upgrade the maps that might take a little work. I'm sure someone will have an easy way in the next few days. Google cyanlabs sync 3.4 for instructions.

Does the mkz have nav? Nav APIMs have a bigger hard drive (from what I've read), making it easy to upgrade to 3.4.

On your Gen 2 -> 3, you can download and update the 5U5T-14G381-EB and 5U5T-14G391-CL. For the MKZ, if you try to update just those without reformatting you'll brick the unit as the partition size isn't large enough. You'll also have some potential issues a normal unit would not as it won't have updated VMCU software, so technically speaking, incompatible with v3.4.

Thanks, I found another bug in my Gen 4 last night where it wasn't powering off, luckily I found someone in the forscan forum who had solved that. The only other thing I noticed today is it reverts back to Ford theme after I try setting to GT.. No biggie I haven't tried any others yet, I do love the cool GT and cobra splash screens

So my 3.3 can just be flashed to 3.4 with 2 sticks and the latest version and nav whereas my nav MKZ running 3.0 (it was trying to download 391 over wifi and 381 is the update the owner portal was pushing me) will need the full 3.4 install that mentions reformatting then running the install with USB 1 then 2? I don't need to flash a 3.2 or 3.3 on it first or change the install batch files or anything else? Just reformat partitions and start 3.4 usb 1? Thank you so much for any assistance you can provide, don't want to brick the wife's mkz

Seems to be that people are reverting to 3.4 19200, then reformatting, then installing using the files above. This must be the correct way to get NA 1.19 Maps.

That is what I did.

Look here for how exactly to do it, but some of their files are incorrect, as stated in another thread.

Update Ford Sync 3 to Sync 3.4 with F9 maps, all regions! (Always updated)

There might be a way soon to just update to NA 1.19 Maps.

Seems this can't be found yet...?

I want to do 3.4 20021, but want that file like you said.

I just upgraded my Edge to build 20021 (mainly because of new 1.19 maps), everything is fine, though people on F150 forum reporting bugs like Nav not storing favorites and source changing from USB on its own after restart.

This is reformat files needed and all of those are available now on russian Focus forum (I downloaded them from there):

APPS = 5U5T-14G381-EB.TAR.GZ
VOICE = 5U5T-14G391-CL.TAR.GZ
VOICE_NAV = 4U5T-14G422-CAF.TAR.GZ
VOICE_NAV = 4U5T-14G422-CBF.TAR.GZ
VOICE_NAV = 4U5T-14G422-CCF.TAR.GZ
GRACENOTES = 4U5T-14G423-CA.TAR.GZ
MAP_LICENSE = 4U5T-14G424-CC.TAR.GZ
MAP = 4U5T-14G421-CAC.TAR.GZ
MAP = 4U5T-14G421-CBC.TAR.GZ
MAP = 4U5T-14G421-CCC.TAR.GZ

MAP = 4U5T-14G421-CHC.TAR.GZ
MAP = 4U5T-14G421-CJC.TAR.GZ

^^That is the same as post #33.

I have had no issues after installing this. Very happy.

So are mustang/lincoln themes still available through forscan after the update? I just did the update, wondering if I should breakout my laptop. Thanks
