3 bulb tail lights

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I've been waking up early down here in Australia and ringing the US to get the run around for a week or two now. No matter what I try I get stone walled somewhere.

I need to purchase a new pair or tail lamps for my 2004 X. 2002 onward all seem to be the same physiacl shape, however I need to have a 3 bulb lamp with an orange/amber turn signal to be legal here in the land "down under."

The dealers I've found that are knowledgable aren't allowed to post international, the others are ......................, well I'll leave them alone for now.

Several websites about the net suggest that the 2008X's or Mountys run the correct colour, but I'm still not confident, please help me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there...

What type of 2004 do you have? XLT, XLS, etc... Thanks!

By the way, I just called a few US Ford dealers about shipping to Australia, they laughed, and said no. What kind of classless nonsense is that?? If I were in Australia I be so pissed off I'd open my own online parts shop...

Did you try:
http://www.forddirectonline.com/partlocator/index.cfm?siteid=214462

Click on Contact Us, it lists Australia. They are closed, but you can still leave a message.

Do you need the entire lamp assembly or just the bulbs?

entire assembly as we've gotten a large hole in our drivers side unit, so I'm wanting to purchase two new ones as ours look slightly different as well as having 4 bulbs

You wouldn't believe (or maybe you would) how difficult it is to find an Explorer taillight assembly with an amber turn signal lens.

A lot of the Euro style tail lights are clear - I guess you could put an amber bulb in them.

I'll keep looking and see what I come up with.

Good luck!

Steve

Very nice! Good for comparison... The tinted windows appear very dark. Is that standard or aftermarket tint? The mud guards are sweet! What's that object at the bottom of the bumper (white/gray object)? And the light on the bumper, is that a brake light? Standard or aftermarket?

the light on the bumper is a reflector, the white grey object is my secondary trailer plug more for larger type trailers down under

and the tint is darker than common, its legality I leave alone

-you can try some aftermarket LED lights from Ebay. Those with the orange signals.
-you can rewire the existing tail lights so that turn signals run through orange bulbs in the reversing (clear) area. for this you'll need to install an external reversing light (somewhere around the tow hook)
-you can use this service to have stuff shipped: www.myUS.com

Good gravy!! Posting/Shipping...

All I can say is ##@#! I checked out UPS to see the charge for shipping/posting to Australia, it is outrageous! And what is this "duty" thing about? So what is the most common type of vehicle in Oz?

Is this shipping the same for Britts? :uk:

And what happens when you need a new transmission, suspension parts etc. for the Ex? How do you get these parts and components?

Ha! Anytime!

You noticed our Southwestern English is a little different? We speak English, but with our parents' accents - mostly Latinamerican, so you hear the Spanish influence... Hablamos Spanglish too!

We'll get the order right for you... that was a rare mistake by Capo, they are very good at what they do...

And watch those kangaroos, I hear they kick pretty hard :D

Is that Capistrano Ford that got those. Looks like their parts counter in the pics.

Bingo!

Is that Capistrano Ford that got those. Looks like their parts counter in the pics.

Capistrano Ford is the best and only place to go for parts around here... Have you been there lately?

What do you think of the lifted F150/250s they have out there? I would buy one in a minute if I were a truck guy... They're done by Outlaw Offroad. Have you seen the black ex they have on the floor? Except the tail lights, that is incredible! (The tl should be clear, I think)
