Tech Package Worth It? Specifically massaging seats

I like it. I get comments every time that say it looks high tech, cool, nice, wow, sweet, etc.
I like it better than horizontal units. I find it very easy to use as well.

I'm fine with the device, but Ford did nothing to take advantage of the size / orientation with their software. It is basically the same layout as the small screen so most of the space is wasted. A real shame.

I did not get the portrait orientated screen because of how it wastes so much space in certain areas of the screen. Backup Cam is a good example as there is so much useless blank space and other useless things taking up the screen.

A lot of good advise good and bad. Currently set to get one by this weekend. Currently have a Limited 2016 with all the bells and whistles. Cool/Heated seats and steering, Massage, Lane assist, Adaptive cruise control, Collision protection, parking assist. The model i want is another limited, and the only thing i would not be getting is the massage seats but all else is included. I don't like the vertical iPad so did not want to upgrade to the Platinum model. Not worth the price. I test drove it for about 30 minutes and i did enjoy it and felt it was definitely an upgrade from my 2016.

The more I read up on the tech package and hearing users' feedback here, I'm going to pass. The "better" audio system is just 2 extra speakers, and the 10" screen is an eyesore. It'd bother me to have it in my peripheral view. I know people say you could get used to it, but I even hate the fact the rear view mirror is in my way (blocks my view, I have to jam it up as much as possible in every car). I would like the massaging seats but knowing Ford, they are just something extra to fix/replace. My 2017 Fusion Sport's cooled seats start to overheat after a few minutes, and it is a known issue that Ford won't outright fix (the actual fix is tearing it apart to install new ducting or something), so I'm not exactly trusting of Ford with seat technology other than heaters.

The standard screen in the Platinum is an 8" horizontal one. The verticle 10.1" one is part of the Premium Technology option package.

I find the mulitcontour seats to be somewhat uncomfortable. The seatback seems too vertical to me, and it feels like my shoulders are pitched too far forward (I'm talking about the construction of the seat itself, not the electric back angle adjustability). YMMV, of course.

The vertical screen is fine. I believe more manufacturers will implement them over the next few years. However, there are shortcomings to this particular one, most of which have already been mentioned. 10" diagonal is the bare usable minimum, I think. 12" is better and would allow for a significantly larger "sub display" for backup cam/Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, etc. Not exactly sure what the aspect ratio for the upper section is, but it's probably close to 16:9. Ability to use the full screen for CarPlay/Android Auto nav would be a vast improvement. Not sure if this a Ford limitation or Apple/Google.

I don't want the sunroof because I've had issues dealing with Ford to replace a sunroof under warranty. Turns out none of the OEMs will cover the sunroof/glass roof under warranty. The best they usually do is pay 50% of the repair costs. It sounds like a factory order is the only way to get it right.
ST doesn't have a moon roof delete. Grafting a PIU roof isn't doable.

Not enamored of the manor in which FoMoCo snubs google maps vs their built in maps. Only full screen view is available w/ Ford maps. Also, the voice commands are useless imho. To many steps needed to get to navigation and then, he/she or, what ever it is, can't find the nearest Whataburger ............ Looser !

I thought the moon roof was optional. I see it as an option on the ordering guide.
It is forced on one here in TX. Had my dealer do a statewide search for an ST spec'd as I wanted it ....... "No way Jose" I was told.

The massaging seats are fantastic btw. With my lower back issues, I drive with it on constantly. Even around town.

Are you saying they are all ordered with the moonroof option? Or that it is standard?

I plan to place a fresh factory order. I've done that for the past 20 plus years with Ford only until recently when I needed a vehicle quickly.

Thoughts about the IPad sticking up from the dash. Like it don’t like it. I tend to say I don’t but if you want the better stereo it comes with it.
It is the wave of the future. Rather unobtrusive imho. Only wish it were a bit more sensitive to one's touch.

Moonroof is 100% optional everywhere. Dealers may only want to order them as their own preference but it is an option.

Reality is, it is a far more popular item then not. So they may not want to be stuck with one sitting without just waiting to find that 1 person who doesnt want it.

That is what I figured. My dealer is the primary go to in the area for the PIU. They keep at minimum 3 to 4 on the lot. Magnum, black, white. County fire marshall put in for one in the high dollar metallic red ........... Commissioners said "No Way Jose !" I was at the meeting when it was voted down. He got the appliance white. :)
