I wasn't exactly gonna share this piece of information but when I got done it was too good to pass up. First of all, a bunch of my friends decided we were gonna go wheeling on monday so I needed to put some tow points on my explorer if I wanted to take it. So, I don't have the material to make my bumper or anything of that sort up just yet so here is my attempt at some temporary tow points.:D

1/2in hole...

1/2in eye bolt...

Front bumper after I put it back on... Rear is the same way...
:D
However, while had the bumpers off. I took some measurments of the vehicle itself and now I'm going to CAD something up to put on here for everyone to have some sort of reference when they go to make some custom bumpers.;)

What do yall think???

A 1/2" forged eye bolt like that is good for about a ton. So, I'd add a few more and use them all in conjunction. :D

Yeah mate, take Stic-o up on his offer. Those eye's shackled onto a snatch strap are evil injuries waiting to happen.

Damn, I didn't even think of tow hooks like those. Completely skipped my mind. My local autozone has those in stock. I think I'll go get a couple of those tomorrow and put those on instead. Thank you guys for slapping me in the face with reality. I should have known better...

and attach them to the FRAME! not the bumper.:salute:

not to rain on your parade, but the bumper is not that strong. i know it's hard to tell, but look at my front bumper in this picture... this is what happens when you try and use it as a tow point.

stock bumpers are good for supporting themselves and thats about it, i bent both of mine before i pulled em. ive owned 3 stock front bumpers from various trucks now and not one of them has been straight.

good tow hooks bolted to the frame with grade 8 hardware. not something you should skimp on

Yeah.... you can bend a stock bumper jumping on it.....

On a related note, you should stock up on lottery tickets, because you are obviously very lucky.
