Well the time has come to start school again. The thing is, I will be going to school in Texas again :bounce: The bad thing is that this is costing me pretty much everything I have. I have had to take out an enormous loan just to cover school. For the trip back I DID NOT want to drive the X towing a small trailor. I wanted to rent a U-haul and tow. But U-Haul wants over $2200 for the truck and trailor alone. So what Im doing is using a moving company that will send my stuff to Texas and everything is included (gas, tolls, driver) for $1900. This means I have to drive to Texas, but at least I dont have to tow this time. What Im starting this thread for is trying to save a little money by asking if some of you guys can help a fellow Explorer enthusiast out by providing a place for me to stop and sleep at overnight. In return I can wash your X, mow your lawn, help paint the kitchen, take your daughter out to a movie, anything. I will be spending a big chunk on gas alone driving an X on 33's and any help would be appriciated. Basically my route is going to be from NYC to northern GA to Huntsville TX. I will be leaving around the 18th-20th of August with my first stop in Fredricksburg, VA where I already have a place to stay. After that I will be driving about 400 miles a day through NC, SC, GA, AL, MS, LA, then TX. So lets see if we can help Tex get back to Texas!!!

i highly doubt I95 through coastal carolina will be on his route... by the time he hits SC he should be on 85 running near greenville... maybe GJarrett can help you out there or JasonB in N GA.

400 miles a day doesn't seem like much at all. How long is this trip going to take you?

Well 400 miles is about an 8 hour drive a day. Im planning on taking my time and not trying to rush it. I will prolly be going down I95 till Petersburg, VA then switch to I85 till Atlanta, GA. Then go on to I20 till Vicksburg, LA where Ill switch to 65 till Vidalia, LA where Ill switch to 28 till Alexandria, LA where Ill switch to I190 into Huntsville.

what day will you be in atl?

Im not sure yet, sometime between August 21-23. Ive never stopped in Atlanta before, usually its one of the cities I drive right through.

I'd offer a place, but you're not coming anywhere near Chicago. If it turns out you can't find enough warm beds and you've got a paypal account, I say ask for motel money.

Alright, got some definite dates now. I will be leaving NYC on the 18th of August and traveling to Fredricksburg, VA. On the 19th I will be leaving VA and traveling to South carolina for my next stop, dont know where though. On the 20th I will be leaving South Carolina in route to hopefully Alabama for my next stop. On the 21st I will be leaving Alabama for Louisiana for the next stop. On the 22nd I am out of Louisiana and in to Texas.

So Boomin, I will be in Fredricksburg on the 18th.

Trust me, I definitely feel your pain. Just keep your speeds low, and you won't be too bad. I actually got up to 23 mpg on the interstate (17mpg low). Still, 2000 miles at 20 mpg wasn't cheap.

NOOOOO.....
I love lifted Ex's, but your rig looks tight the way it is!!!

Bump, its worth a shot.

Looks like your route will take you too far south of my area.

Anything you need in Richmond (rest stop, lunch, etc), just let me know. I am only 5 minutes off I95. :)

Well Robb if your not to far off 95 we may be able to get together for breakfast.
