Texans Invade Tellico

Sorry guys. August 24th is my youngest's birthday and my family comes first. You should have set the date in July; my wife and kids were on vacation at her parents the entire month and me up for any wheeling trip :) I probably would have parked my lil puppy and rode along with one of you big dawgs, but I would have been there!

Rats. :( I figured it would be tough for you to get out here. I sure would have enjoyed getting to visit with you.

Michael, you live closer and I may be joining another run in November. Hopefully we can plan for a later date.

darn.. my brother is getting back from the peace corps that day! i would love to come up and ride along with the big dawgs.. but i haven't seen him in 1.5 years so i'm hanging around for that.

gerald.. if your going again in november.. i may come ride along if your passenger seat is empty?

Sounds good Gerald. I'm getting really excited about this trip.

Sounds good to me :)

Have fun on the 24th & don't forget to take lots of pictures!

tellico

I will be there, not 100% sure the explorer will hit the trails but i will be there on my atv to watch and take some pics, just got home from tellico about an hour ago, it is only about a five hour drive for me, there was only one trail i saw that seemed impossible, i want to say #7, anyways, i guess i will see you there,i can't wait to see the x's ride by the jeeps with the snapped axles, hope to meet up soon,

Reservations Made

I got us a room at the Comfort Inn. I can make it by noon (or before) on Friday morning, so depending on when you guys can show up we could get a lot of wheelin' in on Friday :bounce: if you are still up for it after the long drive.

I miss Texas..... it sure would be nice if a couple of Ziegenbocks showed up around here, hint ;)

Byron, you're talking about that ledge on Peckerwood #7. Paul had to winch up it when we went and I've never seen anyone make it yet without the winch - including a fullsize Chevy on 44" tires. However, I witnessed Michael go up Rock Chucker on the Metal Masher trail in Moab which appeared to be even more difficult to me, though there's lots more traction in Moab. I'd say there is a good chance he and Randall can do it without a winch (depending on how dry the ground is and if they can get enough traction). It's gonna be an interesting weekend.

PS / is anyone (you know who) bringing their SawZall? I might have a little pre-35" prepwork to do with my front fenderwells while you are visiting :D

Gerald, I will be up on Sunday morning. Couldn't get everything else worked out.

I got a sawzall under the seat for just such an occasion ;) There might be a couple of Ziegenbock's rolling around under there as well...

Michael and I will be leaving around 5pm Wednesday night, so we should be around by Thursday afternoon. We'll be knocking on your door. You may want to PM me your address and phone number.

D@m#, now I gotta clean the apt, LOL. So you guys will be spending the night with me and then we'll drive up to Tellico? Just asking, because I want to make sure you know what you are planning. Houston>MurphyNC and Houston>AndersonSC is the same distance (give or take a couple of miles). From Anderson to Murphy is 130 miles but it's a lot of mountain roads and a 3+ hour drive (though the scenery through the foothills of the Smokies on the way there is awesome and worth the drive ). So for the privilege of coming to see me you get to spend the night on my floor and add 3.5 hours to your drive :D

That's great if that's what you want to plan. I can get home about 6pm from work and we can hit the pool and have a great Thursday nite and get an early start to Tellico Friday morning.

Do any of you have a portable handheld CB? My Cobra 75 speaker is crapping out and I may have to mail it in to Cobra for repair. If you don't then I'll make due with mine for the moment.

Josh, sounds good, though I wish you could have joined us for more. Meet us at the Comfort Inn by 8:30 am Sunday morning. Let your pastor know that you're gonna be communing with the Lord in His country, so it's okay to miss one service :D I anticipate Sunday will be BigDawg day so bring your camera Dead Link Removed.

Scott Bosso, I haven't heard from you all year. Are you reading this thread? Sure would like to see you again....

Tellico in November

Gerald mentioned a Tellico trip in November. Its going to be a good one. It is set for the weekend of the 9th & 10th. The main group is a club out of NC (CNC 4X4), of which I am a member. It would be cool to have some other X's out there. Last time we (Gerald and I) went, we were the only ones, but we did impress the hell out of them, especially the "Herc".

I would love to go then, but it too much traveling to do 3 trips in the same year.

Gerald, don't get burned as we did last time:mad:

Rick

rick... i can probably make it up on the 9th or 10th, but i'd have to ride as passenger i think. i doubt i'll be big dawg enough to tackle tellico.

this august trip lands on the day my brother returns from peace corps.. so its outta the question.

Damn right we'll be there! Don't worry about cleaning your apartment Gerald, we may stay at my Dad's place in Atlanta on Thursday night.

where in atlanta? if its not too far from where i am, i'd love to see your vehicles! not a common thing to see a lifted anything other than jeep around here.
let me know if you have a flexible schedule. sounds like a relatively tight schedule though, but i'd like to meet others from the board.
