texting from Sync via bluetooth to Iphone

I had a Galaxy S4 and after connecting it to the Sync system via bluetoth, I was able to send text messages from the car..
Now, I have switched to an Iphone 5S and am unable to send text messages. Sync says my phone cannot send text messages via bluetooth
There has got to be a way to do this given that the 5S is the latest from Apple and rivals the S4 in almost every way (within the walled garden atleast) . I really liked that ability to send text messages via Sync. Any suggestions?
