I stumbled on this site reading online articles about transmission and engine specs for the 96 Explorer I just bought. I found a ton of great information here, so joining only made sense. : )
I should note that I paid $200.00 cash for the Explorer. The engine is sound, burns no oil, and the tank has been driven daily. It needs quite a bit of interior work, and the transmission slides out of gear when braking at highway speeds and has no overdrive at all. (From what I've read here, my first task is likely replacing the solenoids).
In any case, I'll post up photos of my $200 toy in the next couple of days, and update as I go. My plan isn't restoration, but making the thing into a good farm/hunting vehicle.
