The 4.0 Swap was chump change compared to this - Look inside...

little addition to the back, they have a through bolt and are welded to the frame, the bolt is actually the mounting bolt for the bumper, but they are also welded, I have the same set up on the front with no problems.

Drive home last night a little cold? If the heater still works I think with the doors on and the heater on full hot you could still toodle around in the winter... Be cold, but bearable I think...

I think I would stay pretty toasty with doors and windows but no back, the heater in this thing blows way hot, I've had experience with a few vehicles that had doors but no back and they stayed pretty warm.

first snow of the year prompted me to start on this,

its a crappy pic but when I did the sliders I angled them in on the front, so now the door doesn't line up, Ill just pie cut the front out and bend it to the edge of the slider, then weld a bottom into the door.

got the doors done, so then I went out and started on my rock trail. I had all the rocks I picked up a few weeks ago but they were sitting on another part of my familys property, I moved them all over to there new home. I also have a few concrete culverts, and some big tractor tires, i'm still looking for stuff to make new obstacles out of, it will be nice to have somewhere to wheel 10 minutes from my house. here are some pics, this it the big rock that I have,

been awhile, I built a pretty good little test course out of those rocks, painted the rig, it was gonna be storm trooper but my inner nerd was calling to me so now its Boba Fetts ship slave 1,

don't mind my oddball cousin, he was the one who drove it up on the pile there and he was pretty pleased with himself, same dude in the pic above with the gas mask on painting haha.

Love the Boba Fett look. Considered the Mandolorian symbol as a tattoo.

thanks man, it would be a cool tat. it was really fun to paint on there

Like the rock garden and paint. Do you have access to tube bender?

yeah we have a jd2 model 3 at the shop with 1.5, 1.75, and 2" dies. And we picked up one of the HF tube roller so it will have some rolled tube in it as well, mainly on the bars on the top and bottom of the windshield. my cage has been a long time in the planning phase, there will be some cool tube work, I think you guys will like it.

Just curious, what does the HF roller have over the model 3?

Just curious, what does the HF roller have over the model 3?

2 different tools for 2 different jobs.

The roller is to put a gentle radius in the tube, the same can be accomplished with the tube bender, you just have to put several less than 5* bends in every few inches.

The tube roller will allow a smooth radius to be put into the tube to follow curves more gracefully.

Like I said 2 different tools, the roller just allows some more capability

Got it.

haven't messed with the bdos for awhile, in fact it is sitting outside with a tarp over the seats bk this piece of junk is in the garage getting a new slave cylinder,

I think it will be my wifes dd and our mild wheeler, plan to go sas with the d30 that is currently in the bdos and some 33's with a soa in the rear, maybe a selectable locker in the back and some cool bumpers/sliders. It should be a good rig for trail runs but most importantly it will free me up to go fully crazy with the bdos, i'm thinking back half and 4link rear, just have to see what time brings. First objectives will be the cage and the front d44 though.

had a little snow wheeling day out at the dads farm on saturday, pretty good time, had some pretty capable rigs out there as well as a few stockers, made our little trail in the woods a good time for everyone and the rock pile just plain nasty. here are a few pics,

I took the RTI ramp out there as well, it was a lot of fun to try and get a good score when the ground was slick as snot,

had family dinner yesterday so my brother and I took our rigs out to play a little more, saturday night/all day sunday it snowed so there was probably 4-5 more inches of snow out there than the day before, here is a vid of my brother trying to get up a hill, notice the sliders and fender cut outs I did for him, cut 9" out of his rockers and replaced with 2x4" tube, gained 7" of ground clearance.

made the doors removable, just used 3/8" bolts with d rings welded to the top and drilled the hinges out to 3/8". took some file fitting to make it easy to get the pins to go through but I can take my doors off at leisure now.

also getting ready to order a ruffstuff steering kit with chev one ton TRE's, maybe then this thing will drive down the road straight, my stock jeep steering with the grand cherokee tie rod has seen better days. the Ruffstuff kit comes with 1 1/2 .25 wall tubing, I think i'm also gonna sleeve the tie rod with 1 3/4" .120 wall dom just to make it that much stronger, also going to need to change my panhard mount bk its going to be in the way when I go knuckle over steering. pics on the steering and associated mods to come.
