I saw this on a YouTube video of a 69 bronco with full width axles, has anyone seen this before with the pivot point between the rear axle spring perch and the lead pack?

DB1 had something like those on his Ranger for a time. Said they made his rig very unstable.

Yeah I figured it would. I hadn't seen them before, seems ok for a trail only rig but mine will be on the street from time to time.

Looks interesting idk about strong.. You could use a set of ballistic weldable joints and make a set of rear hangars for the shackle and it'll be strong

where did you mount those? Rear springs?
Ya for your upper shackle mount. Explorers are rubber bushings inside the frame the frame needs boxed a weak point. Didn't get to try them out they were for a Toyota designed around a flat leaf spring with more shackle angle allowing the shackle full droop. I wanted to use the ballistic joints as I they are rebuild able and offer more missalighnment.

i am using the ballistic fab upper coil buckets that are in the early posts on the thread...

on the frame side of the brackets, i made a template from cardboard and am cutting a new piece of steel to match the hump in the frame.

. ive got a big a$$ piece of 3/8 and some 1/4 ( the Bf are 1/4)

How are you gonna manage the hump in the frame ..I'm still lost at it

the brackets that came with the kit from ballistic i may use to make adjustable shock mounts... or get f150 oem mounts... or get the ballistic fab adjustable shock kit, im not sure yet. the shocks are the least of my worries right now, as long as ive got enough room to weld them to the frame behind the coil buckets.

Well i figured I'd give this thread a bump. I haven't been working on the X much the past two week as it has been rifle season for whitetail here. My and my son got it done opening weekend. I tagged out with a small buck and a doe. My son got a mature doe and should be going out a few more times before the end of the season.

Ok back at it after deer season.

Picked this guy up with a 125# bottle this week. Snap on mm140sl. 100% duty cycle at 140amps. Its an older unit but snap on still makes the same welder and all the parts are the same. Its tig and spool gun capable (tig kit is only $567 on the truck)

My son (the welder) checked it out before hand and said it runs like a top. It has a gas leak somewhere inside the unit but that shouldn't be too hard to find. I usually turn off my bottles at the valve anyways so I'm not terribly worried about it right now.

According to the spec sheet it will do 1/4 inch steel in one pass. Bullshitting with the previous owner, he said it will do more then that (it was at a classic car restoration/restomod shop and they used it for everything.

Back on track. We are about ready to get the 9 inch under the truck. The spring perches are tacked in place just need to pull the 8.8 and roll the 9 under it and make sure the angles are correct and pull it back out and burn the perches on place.
