the official "back in the gym" thread

Yeah, Premier, I found a diet on the other forum---it's a bulking one that seems as though it's pretty lean. Using slow digesting carbs to help level you out. Claims to let you put on mad weight in 5 weeks...it's under the diets, etc., thread....check it out and let me know what you think....

Hey Bill I agree with Premier. He knows whats up. Check out ironmagazine.com. Plenty of guys in the know about dieting and such and regardless of what anyone here or anywhere else says eating right is the best thing you can do for yourself, especially if you are lifting. Eating right means understanding your goals and what to eat and when to eat it to achieve them. Supplements arent worth much until you get your diet straight.

Yeah man, I've been checking out there forum for a day or so now---looks REALLY informative. Just what I was looking for. I think I'm gonna try this diet I found on there. It's that time of year where I really wanna get very focused on my goals (summertime's right around the corner). Training's never been a problem, but I want my diet to really benefit my training, and I'm the kind of person that needs to see it on paper. If I have steps to follow, I'm more apt to follow.

cool man I hope everything goes well. If you have any questions dont be afraid to ask. I might not be able to answer all of them myself but i can tell you where to look. Oh and I am X Ring over on ironmag

Thanks dude...I'm definately gonna start eating more---hopefully I can do the shopping I need to do this weekend, and start up next week. Where on the east coast are you? Truck looks real good too---I'm going thru the stages right now myself---not done yet though!

When I was in high school my doctor told me that if I wanted to gain weight to eat everything normal like I usualy do but with breakfast have a Carnation Instant Breakfast drink also. I did and I actually gained weight.

yeah I am in CT for now, probably not past june though. Eating big gets expensive so does lifting your truck, well it is really the tires that do it but it looks cool, thanks for the compliment,

Man, you guys are crazy lol. 4500 calories a DAY?! Wow, lol, I try to stay away from food as much as I can and dont really have much of an appetite. I was like 5'8" 230 lbs in highschool(3 years ago). I never really did any exercising and ate a hell of alot of fastfood. Then I started working 2 jobs during the summer and lost alot of weight, and thought I'd keep it up. Ever since then I've been doing cardio, lifting and running as much as I can; time permitting. Right now I'm prolly at 5'11" 180, but not as lean as I'd liked to be. I eat as healthy as any college kid I know: alot of chicken, turkey, wheat bread, veggies, apples, and granola bars: fastfood is like the devil! Although I havent put on as much mass as I would like to, I can tell I'm losin weight cuz my pants keep gettin bigger lmao. Anyways, still got 9 weeks till summer so I got some time.;)

sounds good man, glad to see you lost all that fat, makes life more enjoyable I was a real fattie at one time then I started lifting and eventually found out how to eat. 4500 cals a day is about average for me. Sometime I am still hungry at that level, never stuffed. But I could shed about 10 lbs of fat before summer to be happy but my main goal is to hit 260 lbs and be some what lean, dont care about being ripped just want to be huge and still see that abs.

260 is HUGE  I will be happy at 225 ripped :D

well I was 240 about 15 minutes ago when I was leaving the gym so to get to 260 with the bf I would be satisfied with I would have to gain 30lbs of muscle. I certainly dont expect to do this by summer but maybe next summer. Did I mention m1t?

I think I might run s1+ or just 4 AD for 4 weeks b/c it would be my first true PH then 6 or 8 weeks later go for a 4 week m1t/4ad cycle, off for another 6-8 then on again. Need to stock up before its too late, i'll post more detail on IM, no one here want to hear about it and I dont want to start something

You guys need to speak english. This isn't IronMagazine.com (IM). No one knows what the hell you guys are talking about. I am a member of IM and I don't know what the hell you're talking about. LOL!

:D :D :D

Who would be up for a 2005 weight loss competition thread. No money or anyting, just bragging rights. I now have a nutritioist and trainer so I am losing pretty quickly. It was a month yesterday and I had lost 22 lbs. I just thought that if we get some kind on forum competition that it may give the people that dont have trainers the push they need to go out and work out and overhaul their diet as I did. We can also do it at a percentage of your body weight, so whoever loses the largest percentage of their body weight wins, not who loses the most weight. If I get sufficent response I will go ahead and start a thread about it.

Umm.. losing that much weight, in that amount of time isnt really good for you.. 2lbs a week max.

What kind of diet does your 'nutritionist' have you on? <-- thats meant to the so called 'nutritionist'

Sounds interesting. How would you go about proving you did lose that much weight?

The first 18 lbs or so was all water weight, I am a heavy person. I have now gotten all of the excess water out of the way and am losing much slower, this week has only been a pound so far. My nutritionist is very very good, he in involoved with several of the college players doing the combine training at the gym I was at over christmas break. I have 5 "meals" a day, breakfast is 6 egg whites, one whole egg, 1/4 cup of scottish oatmeal with a cup of water and a 1/2 cup of soy milk and a apple/orange. Lunch is 6-8 oz of lean meat and 2 cups of vegetable. B/t lunch and dinner is a low carb protien shake (Labrada Lean Body), Dinner is the same as lunch, and after dinner is another shake. THere is 3 hours between every meal. I am not trying to get big, rather I am trying to get my metabolism going faster so that I can metabolize food better. If you want any other info I can give you his number if you want to verify his status as a nutritionist that you would ap aproove of. :o

I also do cardio 5 days a week for an hour before breakfast and work out 3 times a week after breakfast. Also, with breakfast and dinner I have 2 tbsp of EFA and 3 of these amino acid pills. Also, I am taking a multivitamin, vitamin C, milk thistle (to clean my liver).

He lives close to JasonB, so jason could say if he did or not.

As many of you have said, yes, benching doesn't prove much. There are guys who come into the gym and that's their main focus and the main thing they do. It's nice to brag about, but what are your other strong points??

I've been back working out the past month and starting to get toned again. I'm fortunate because it runs in my family to build muscle quick. I piss the guys I work out with because it takes them twice as long to see anything. Give me till spring when I have 8 pack abs and I'll put a pic up.

Looks good.. I was just concerned with such a large amount of weight loss... I know all about boosting metabolism, and it looks like your on a decent meal plan ;) BUT, I would ditch the soy. Two words: estrogenic properties read me.

Also, that Labrada MRP looks pricey. You could make your own, out of whey, peanut butter(fat), and a small amount of rolled oats for carbs.

Its good he has you on EFA's. You should be on fish oil though.. also why does he have you on BCAA's(amino acids)? They are a waste of money. I can post references if you would like :)
