The "Squirrel" goes under the knife...

Thanks for taking the time and bringing the pics back to life..:biggthump

..Let me know which picture goes where in your thread or if you can repost them there would make it easier for us..:D

..So what did you think of the mod? Is there another way you would have done this set up or were you totally happy with it?

Hey Tbars4,

I went ahead and added the pics to the thread.

The e-brake worked well. I wish I had done a better job with the pivot device and it's operation. Also, the pivot point was in a vulnerable location. I never got around to tweaking it before I sold the truck.

...Thanks for adding all that..:biggthump

..Where did you have the pivot point set up?

..I'm a bit behind on updating this...

..I put in a 1" puck lift as well as replacing all the body mounts at the beginning of this summer..

..Today I finlly installed the Atlas II into the Ranger but have a couple issues to overcome...

The front drive shaft appears to be at least 2-3" to long..

..The rear drive shaft appears to be fine as it is up on a lift with full drrop but I can have the driveline shop take a peak at it when I show them the front shaft to find out my options for modifying it..

..and I need to chase down some new bolts to go with the new flange I put on the Atlas...This is the flange and it has all the specs except what the 4 bolt holes are tapped out for and of course they are different threading than my stock bolts on the driveline..:banghead:

..The Ranger also got a new clutch, slave, and flywheel as well as a new rear main seal today..;)

..Oh yea, and a totally awesome bling tranny mount made for the Explorer's but it fit perfect in my Ranger..:biggthump

Good to know that it fit perfect

...I did have to do some modifying to the stock flip, exhaust hanger piece that uses one of the bolt holes though...

..It may just be special to my 2.3l but I'm looking forward to getting one for my X...:biggthump

I figured you would. I had to do the same to mine to get that tab to fit.

You know, Energy Suspension makes a nice urethane one...

..If it is anything like a stock one, I don't think it would last long with the Atlas and I am pretty sure this one will out last the truck though..:D

..I'm running into a couple other issues like the new flange takes a smaller bolt so I had to quick fix with standard Grade 8's as I coulldn't get the 7/16x 20 Ferry bolt off the shelf but any other I could..

..This new flange may wind up being swapped because of these bolts now allowing some play in the old bolt holes when mating with the dbl. cardan..:(

..There will need to be some more beefing up as the Atlas is a beast under there...

..Should be done bleeding the clutch in an hour or so then test drive it over to the driveline shop to see what all I need to do for the front shaft..:hammer:

I've had the Energy Suspension poly one since before the Atlas went in now there's a doubler in front of that. Going on ten years now. Its made for a manual tranny, but you just have to elongete the holes in your stock crossmember to make it work.

..Anyone have a picture to compare the two?

...Wishing you guys could have made it out here this weekend..

Just a little better than the stock one. I have torn one of the Energy Suspension Mounts apart similar to that one though, not sure how it happened. It was a Chevy/Universal mount, it wasn't on the Explorer however.
