my turn again .... umm warped axle flange or bearing hub? spin all the tires up in the air and look for wobble since you ruled out the tires/rims earlier? If not throw them all on the balancer

OK so I splashed out 220Riyals (that's $583) on a set of michelins - and the wobble is completely gone. Apparently my previous tyres (Bridgestone) were only rated for B climate (temperate) not A (HOT), so the tyres got hard and bumpy. Remains to be seen if something else doesn't appear when the tyres are settled in......but for now all seems OK.
