Howdy everyone (and thanks for checking out my Sport Trac!)
My name is Luke, as you've probably already guessed. Yes, I know everyone calls their Ex's 'XPLODR', however, I've owned 3, so I am allowed LOL.
A little about my previous vehicles:
I started off with a black 1996 Explorer Sport 4wd, 126k miles, purchased in ~2003 for $4000 with 126k miles. I sold that vehicle in 2007 with a blown transmission, and ~200k miles, for $700.
I then bought a black 2003 Explorer XLT 2wd- 55k miles, for $13500 in 2007. I then sold that one for $4400 with 106k miles in February of 2012. Here's a picture from the day I sold it:
At that point, I purchased my current vehicle - a 2005 Explorer Sport Trac 4x4 with ~60k miles, which I absolutely LOVE.
Here are a few shots from the day I picked it up.
Next up was lift and tires!
I had the lift installed by
SFF Customs based on a recommendation from other members (SFF Customs is run by ExplorerForum member Stang5lgt. He's got a pretty sick Mountie thread if anyone wants to check it out
The lift is a Performance Accessories 3" body lift for '2001-2002 sport tracs'- (Yes, it is compatible with 2001-2005 sport tracs, they just never really updated their product description.)
I bought wheels/tires at the same time- 15x8 Cragar soft 8's with 33x12.5x15 Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs. (here's about 3/4 of the cutting I had to do
Here are some before and afters of the lift/tires:
Here's a couple night/day shots:
Then, I had brush guard slapped on - with custom mounts, made by First Choice Fabrication Quick/Cheap/Easy for him - I'd recommend him for custom work, such as bumper builds. This is the custom bracket:
Here are some before and afters of the brush guard install:
Went ahead and tinted my taillights, based on 01Strac's thread on this topic. Here are some before/afters:
My next mod was a quest to set up a Manual Reverse Light Override switch, so I could turn on the reverse lights in the rear for utility lighting when it is dark out. If you want to check out the write-up, it can be found HERE.
Here's some general pictures I've taken since I've owned it:
Added 5/4:
Added 6/4 (White River National Forest):
Thanks!
Luke
