New 2020 Explorer periodically displays a popup reading, "This USB device is not supported. Please remove."
But I've never inserted any USB device of any sort at all. Never.
(If there's a better thread in which to post this question, I'd appreciate if someone would let me know, Thanks!)

Is it possible the USB has gotten moisture in it?

You could try plugging one in and see if the message still comes up. Remove it and then see if it stops. Otherwise you can go back to the dealership and have them check it out.

The message comes up randomly, occurring roughly 8 times since I purchased the vehicle in February. I click 'ok' or 'close' whatever it says, and it goes away until the next time.
I've actually plugged my iPhone in a few times after the problem first popped up a couple of times, but the message has never occurred when USB was in use.
I reported the problem to my salesman, a very knowledgeable and helpful guy, but had no answer to the issue. I'm not about to leave it with the dealership if they don't have a plan for troubleshooting. I don't get the feeling that this is a known issue.
It's just annoying to have a nonsense message popping up.

I would reach out to FMC customer service. (800) 392-3673

Just guessing here, but I wouldn't be surprised if various of the sensors, cameras, switches, etc. are connected to the on board computers via USB. Might be there is a connection issue or one of the pieces of equipment is failing intermittently. Perhaps there are codes stored in the computers that the dealer could use to diagnose.

Not an unreasonable guess. I'll keep that in mind if I decide to let the dealer have hands-on to troubleshoot. Thanks.

I get the exact same issue on my 2021 F350. I thought it might be the port in the center console. I replaced it and it still comes up, at random. Just annoying.

I'm thinking they don't, because it has canbus. To clarify I mean that most of those items aren't going to be USB connected, but I don't rule out the possibility that "something" might be.

I don't know if doing a Master Reset would fix it or not. Are you still under warranty?

Don't these have a mSD navigation memory card? If there is one in it, I bet that is USB connected...
