I almost pulled the trigger in a Flowmaster kit from summit racing, but noticed that they listed 2 dynomax kits, one with a single outlet and one with a dual outlet & chrome tips. I know that the flowmaster is better quality, but the dual exhaust kit from dynomax is $70 cheaper (almost 4 cases of beer). What should I do? How does the dynomax kit sound?

dynomax or any other company doesnt make a dual exhaust for the 91-94 explorers

For $109 it has to be a single exhaust & not the dual that is pictured.

look at the break down for both, Dynomax has a higher flow rate than flow master and a smoother sound. they also trap less sound this keeps pas. comp. noise down. as far as quality there as good if not better. flow masters just has more brand rec.

I have used both in the past... and I did like them both... not much of a difference anyway unless you'll get deep into the specifications. All depends on what you actually need for your racetrack beast... oh wait! wrong forum!
:D

In the end it all comes down to what you want... some like them blonds you know.

I did my homework on exhaust on a few occasions. I almost scored Dynomax. At the end of the day, they're reasonably priced, are of decent quality, and are known as offering some of the quieter performance mufflers out there which is what I was looking for at the time. The installer that put in my Flo-Pro muffler was a fan of Dynomax and pretty much said you won't go wrong with them. He described them as "entry level performance mufflers" and they're of "decent quality at a great price" (I'm paraphrasing here).

I got the flowmaster force 2 kit off of summit and I love it. Best sounding v6 I've ever heard, but it looks stock.

I think dual exhaust on the 4.0 ohv ex may be overdoing it. The FM kit comes with single 2 1/4" pipe in order to maintain exhaust velocity (or backpressure if it helps you relate). If you wanted to keep exhaust velocity in a dual set-up you'd have to go with tiny piping, or be willing to sacrifice low-end torque.

i have the Dynomax kit on my 93 EX sport, and i couldn't tell the difference over stock, the sound and performance was no different, wish i had gone with somethin else

Same here. I put the Dynomax on my 1993, and it sounded exactly like stock. I ended up putting a Flowmaster 40 muffler on the Dynomax tubing. Sounds much better.

I had dual Flowmaster 50s on my 5.0 Mustang, I would have preferred 40s but my wife hated the 50s, it was too loud for her. I'd like the sound of the 50 but I'm not sure if I'd hear it over my wife's constant b!tching. Less money, less b!tching, I think I'll go with the dynomax. Thanks for the input guys.

thers no way that dynomax kit is 110 for a dual. I paid 132 for my dynomax catback single in/out and that was with my shop discount. It replaced my flowie 2 system but it sounds like stock cept on startup. I would go with a flow over dyno anyday.

When I was looking into catback systems, I checked out the Dynomax one with the Super Turbo muffler which is the one you're looking at, and the Flowmaster since those are probably the only two companies still making them. I would go with the Dynomax since Walker makes some of the best mufflers out there. I didn't like the poor design of the internals of the Flowmaster.

I swapped out a dynomax for a 40 series flowmaster. The dynomax was much to quiet for my liking.

Thanks for your input, I installed the flowmaster kit this weekend, and I couldn't be more pleased. It's quiet in the cab, but it sounds great when it idles. Also, installation couldn't have been easier. Thanks again.
