I am new here, i have a 06 explorer 4.0 eddy bauer , i am getting a slight thumping noise at around 1300 rpm with the vehicle in either drive or reverse.
(with power braking) i had a shop replace the torque converter, rear chain tensioner, water pump, alternator, serpentine belt and tensioner , updated valve body in trans.

What else could it be? (lucky i have an extended warranty on this)

It also does it only when it is hot, other than valve train rattle and injectors firing , this is annoying to listen to . I am think timing chain cassettes are bad.

I think you are right. Good thing you got the extended warranty. Cam chain cassette replacement is a big, big, big, job.

I will be dropping off at dealer on monday, hope they can figure it out, now i noticed alot of whining and noise from the front area, it is proberly something that was replaced , cause it was not that loud before i had work done to it (i just feel like trading it in on something else at this point)
