ticking in motor

i have some ticking in my engine, it goes in waves. It will tick for 15 seconds then stop for a a bit, then come back, but once the truck is fully warm, it doesn't tick. Lifters or injector?

Lifters, I would bet my life on that lol

but why does it come and go? could i use something to clean the lifters and maybe stop them from ticking? they hardly tick after a fresh oil change.
