Can anyone tell me ways to get tighter steering control on my explorer? It has too much body roll if you can understand what I'm trying to say.

I think he means the steering stabilizer aka axle dampener aka mysterious 5th shock. I replaced mine last summer and agree it makes a big difference with body roll. I'd suggest doing this when you replace the other 4 shocks.
For actual steering, the best thing to do is replace the inner/outter tie rod ends and keep the power steering fluid level full.
