After much soul searching I’ve come to the sad conclusion that I just don’t have the time to persevere with my Explorer any longer. So it’s got to go. Hopefully to someone who will be able to sort it out or at least put the good bits to use. I’ve enjoyed owing it immensely and it still puts a smile on my face when I drive it. I had to pick my SO up on Tuesday evening from her office in central Wolverhampton owing to the scumbags running riot around there. Even during the hairier moments I barely stopped grinning. A great memory for what might be my last drive in it.
Taking stock, I have a fair few nice items for it which I want to get rid of so if anyone is interested PM me. I thought I’d offer the car and bits on here first before putting it on fleabay. List below:
Cobra Stainless Steel Bull Bar (on car, buyer to remove) includes lower guard/grill £200
Stainless Steel spot lights pair (on bull bar) £20
Bonnet spoiler, EGR smoked abs plastic £25
Headlight guards EGR clear plastic pair £10
Complete set of US market crystal headlights brand new never used (these are the headlight, corner marker light and indicator lights). £120
Thule adapters for the roof rails so you can fit roof boxes racks etc directly to the rail without using the less than ideal roof bars. £50
The car itself - 1997 Explorer in Green, 124K, taxed and MOT until October 2011. Virtually no rust. (just a couple of very slight spots of surface rust and
a small amount on the rear bumper nothing structural. Nice interior, grey leather, power seats all work OK. Roof bars. Towbar, stainless steel cat back exhaust system. BF Goodrich AT’s No stereo (It’s a Kenwood with CD changer and I’m keeping it unless you convince me otherwise). Clifford top of the range alarm system with anti hijack and remote start. Cost nearly £1k when fitted all works and the remote start is wonderful when the weather is cold or v hot. (you can start the car from the keyfob and in five minutes it’s warmed up and defrosted or if its hot out you can have the aircon running and the car is perfectly cooled when you get in). Not sure about your carbon footprint but hey it’s an SUV, Right?
Car runs and drives OK – it’s not perfect by any means tho’- just needs sorting - £500. (I’ve also got some spares I’ll throw them in the back).
