Ok, so I'm long due for a few things on my Explorer. I need to replace my upper and lower ball joints. I've seen lots of people say Moog are where it's at, but do I need Moog control arms as well in order to use Moog ball joints? What exactly do I need? Where is the cheapest place to get them?

Also, I need new tires. The tread is starting to get low, and at least one of my tires has this weird wear ring on the sidewall. I do 95% on-road driving, but would like to have a tire decent enough to take off road if I needed to, and it also needs to do well in rain and snow.

I need shocks, too. I did a search last night, and found a lot of varying opinions. I saw a lot of people that said Monroe Sensa-Tracs were good, and a lot of people said Rancho 9000's were good, too. I think the 9000's would be overkill for me, since I don't do off roading or anything.

So, any advice??

I run Rancho 9000x shocks and all my driving in on the road. They are the best shock I have ever used; the adjustably is awesome.

For ball joints- Moog all the way top and bottom.

For tires, check out Cooper Discoverer ATR, they are a mix of highway and all terrain, very quiet on the road. I have them on my Zuki and love em.

As for shocks, people swear by Rancho 9000's, but I never could justify the cost, I found the Monroe Sensa Trac's perfectly adequate.
