I bought a 97 4.0 Motor to replace the old blown headgasket overhead a few times 4.0 out of my 99 with 210,000 miles. The motor I got was pull right before I bought it so I got to here it run and it has timing chain noise all the time and sounds like a tractor the dash says 325,000 miles and the motor is way to clean and ran way to good for the mount of miles so I gave him 200 bucks in hope I can just do a time chains replacement or replace the tensioners and cassettes and leave the chains

Sounds like it wasn't the original engine to that donor vehicle, but if it runs ok, it is still a deal at $200. While you have it out, replace ALL of the timing components and the front and rear seals. Then you should be good to go.
