Been having some issues with my battery and finally got it fixed, only to be greeted with a failing timing chain. Basically, there's a seriously loud rattling/knocking sound coming from inside the engine which was diagnosed as a timing chain issue by a mechanic the second I pulled into the parking lot.
Problem is, they want $1600 to fix it. Does that sound like a fair price at all? It seems incredibly steep to me, but then again I've never had to replace a timing chain before.
The truck has about 140,000 miles on it.
What are my options here, fellas?
