tinting the windows on a 99 sport

i want to tint the front windows on my 99 sport. i was thinking of doing 5% which is limo tint. all my rear windows have the factory tint and i think it will look stupid to have 5% on the front doors and then whatever the factory is on the back. can i tint over the rear windows that already have tint? if so what % should i do on the rear that will get me somewhat close to the 5% on the front? im getting the tint off ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...30275974574&ssPageName=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123 it comes in 50, 35, 20, and 5% any recommendations?

go to wall mart...hahaha no seriously, they have rolls of tint...you could look through them till you find the right one...pluss its like $11 bucks...

that doesnt answer my question about matching up tint so i dont have 2 very different color tints on my windows....

well if it helps, i think the factory tint is 20%

Yes factory is usually 20% if you can go to a custom tint shop and ask them for scrap pieces and hold them up to the window until you get the closest match im not too sure they make 15% but try the 20% up to it you might not be too far off...

The only thing is is that the dipped window tint (factory) is usually brown so if you put the blueish black shade on it may be darker.

ok thats fine if the tint makes the back windows darker thats what i want. i want an even 5% tint throughout my car or at least as close as possible on the rear windows. someone suggested using 20% on the rear windows that have factory tint and than 5% on the front which i will probably do and see what happens. thanks for all the help guys!

i would just tint it 5% all around and then that way its nice n dark all around

Hey, I just tinted my windows not too long ago, I just tinted the back windows all of them 5% and left the front ones clear. I'll try to get a pic so you can get an idea.

hey man i would just suggest doing the 5% all the way around well maybe a little lighter in the front, around here youd get a ticket and have to take the front tint off if its more than 20% i think,

but yeah just tint them all man, goto walmart or meijers, even autozone might be better

I would suggest that pre-cut window tint, its already pre-cut, there isnt any cutting neccessary.

yea, thats what im going with. just trying to figure out if its worth all the extra work to get 5% tint on all the windows or if i should just bite the bullet and just do 20% on the front. ill probably just do 20%.

yea i already knew it was illegal to tint front windows in jersey but i see it all the time around here and i dont think its really that big of a deal. plus im in the military and alomost 99% of the time if im pulled over for speeding or what not, ill show them my military ID and they usually just give me a bs seatbelt ticket instead or nothing at all. im goign to tint it regardless hahah thanks for the heads up though man.

I did my 2000 Sport 5% over factory on all the rears and 35% on the fronts.
legal limit and I think it looks just fine.

I didnt want to make it illegal A) because I dont want any angry or nervous cops and 2) I dont want to have to go the effort or removing any thing if I have to.

youre right, that does look pretty good. cant really tell they are 2 different tint lvls. i think ill be doing this than as well. where did you get those all clear headlights from?

I put 2.5% over my stock on all the back windows, and 5% on the front. Dark. Cops will give you a fix it tickes 99.9% of the time, and they do not want to do paperwork, so, no ticket. I get pulled over all the time, no ticket yet (knock on wood) Go dark in the front, and darker in the back. Anything less than 5% on the front is a waste of removing the door pannels.

ok well i got my precut window tint off ebay. id like to install them sometime this weekend, for anyone whose done this type of project, what are some tips i need to know about putting on window tint. ive never done this and too be honest im afraid of f'ing it up and havign to scrape it off and ruining my windows. any help is appreciated.
