I've got a 2002 XLT explorer and want to put new rims and tires on. Anyone know what the maxium size I can go without a lift is?

Thanks

what size is your lift?

I do not have a lift and don't plan on getting one.

Try searching around a little bit, i guarantee you will find what you want to know.

i have 22's on mine with 265.35.22, and am planning to go with 305.45.22's. With those i think that there will be slight rubbing on hard turns. But i have seen a friend of mine with 24's but he can hardly turn, and theres not much tire at all. so basically if you want rims you either want 20's or 22's but i know for a fact that with those 305's that will be the largest you want to go.

I'm sorry man. I misread your message horribly. The maximum size tire that can be turned all the way and not scrub is a 30" x9.5".

I have 275-45-20s at the moment with a 4inch drop & have no probs, however i am just about to purchase 275-25-24s.The 24s will fit but I do have to lift the car back up a bit.

30x9.5 may not be the absolute tightest fit but, it is allowing a little room for the suspension to compress if you were turning and hit a bump or dip in the road. This is what the rimstop hotline told me when I was ordering my tires and wheels.

That's why you have to search the internet & find these forums for the real info.
