I'm trying to get a straight answer on tire/wheel combos. Im running 15x8s with 33x12.5s right now and I've now had a couple of people tell me that i need wide rims? I now want to run 35s on 15x8s and a friend of mine is telling me it could be dangerous? Is there a conclusive answer on this subject?

15x8s will be fine

I've read the threads, Ive heard what other people have said and 15x8 seems to be fine for most applications. I try to get a straight answer and its like "oh its dangerous, you cant do it."

15x8's will actually be safer on a 35 than on a 33... Less bead angle on a 35. I think you can actually run a 15x7 (not recommended though) on a 35.

Yeah i've heard running 35s is safer than running 33s on a narrower rim because of the angle. I'm trying to save few bucks by buying some used aluminum rims to put my street tires on and use the steel ones i have now to put the 35s on.

Does anybody know how wide the 1998 explorer rims are? Not the alloys, the chrome rims. What are the widest tires I can put on them? I mean street tires though not off road.

Your stock wheels are 7" wide, they all are. The widest you can go depends on the height you want to go.

And please start your own thread. Your question is WAY off topic.
